Weight Loss After Quitting Smoking Stop the weight gain before it even starts! Learning the process on how to stop smoking and losing weight doesn’t have to feel complicated. Simplicity is what it’s all about. Anyone who is still smoking and trying to lose weight believe they are unable to exercise due to there lack of stamina and energy. This is not necessarily true. I can understand that trying exercise might not rank so high on your list of activities to do, but when you stop smoking you will need to follow some sort of activities to help lose weight or keep the weight off. Understand that by you stopping to smoke and exercising you are helping eliminate two problems at once. If you begin to jump into things you will regress. Unless this is an approach that has worked well for you I wouldn’t recommend it to most. Doing too much will make you feel overwhelmed and this is not what your ultimate goal is. Your ultimate goal is to stop smoking and lose weight. Keep your on the prize. Start off nice and easy with set days that will allow you to get the most out of your time. Walking and/or jogging can work best for a start up. Pull in about 30 minutes on your set days and if possible on all your days. But this is something that you will lead up to. If possible squeeze in a walk at your lunch breaks at work. If you know you will be hard pressed for time when you get home. You will find that all the inactivity and smoking has put your body in a slump. Yes you have gained weight and you may cough after some jogging. Don’t let this discourage you. You have stop smoking and are on your gradual goal of losing weight. Continue on! I am more then sure you will notice sooner than later that your body has a positive change to all your hard work. The same is true for your eating habits. To lose weight you will need to gradually start throwing out the negative foods and focus on healthier meals. By far this would be the most important factor in your goal to lose weight. Don’t put the added stress on yourself to change too quickly. Take this process as it comes. You have focused on stop smoking and losing weight. Keep a positive attitude and outlook on everything you do. While your body is in a state of healing itself from smoking you will not that the process become easier. Keep with the vegetables and fruits. Plenty of water as well to help rid of all the toxins that smoking has accumulated with in your body. Distraction: Keep yourself distracted during your smoke cravings. On average a craving may last about 5-7 minutes. During this period keep yourself occupied. Think of other possible activities, eat a piece of candy, and/or pick up an extra hobby. As long as you continue to keep yourself occupied during peak moments you will continue to beat your cravings. At some point you will feel that you can increase your level of intensity during your work outs due to the time your body has been healing from not smoking. When this happens keep increasing it until you are comfortable with your level of intensity and try doubling your efforts not only in your work outs to lose weight but in the kitchen as well. Continue to beat your cravings, you're better than IT. You have stop smoking; now continue to lose the weight!
